Sub Plans for 3/22

In case any of you missed the announcement, I have a professional meeting in the LMIC all day today. Here is what you have on the agenda for today:

-Get a Netbook.

1. Watch the CBS news using the following Link:
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6316015n If the link does not work, google CBS Evening News and search for and watch the latest news they have archived. Fill out your Newsreels for this activity. You may use headphones for this activity if you have brought them.

2. With a partner, (note partner, NOT groups of three, four or five or six!!!) read the facts about the Health Care bill which has passed the US Congress last night. Use the following webpage:
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20000846-503544.html

3. With your partner, and using a big sheet of butcher paper from the front of the room, create a pros and cons of the Health Care Bill poster. You should list 10 pros, and 10 cons. With every one, list your reason for it being a pro or con. Can be 2-3 sentences. This should take more than 10-15 minutes. You should spend at least 45 minutes on this activity. Any less time and you ARE NOT SPENDING ENOUGH TIME ON EACH PRO AND CON!!! Be prepared to discuss your reasoning for the pros and cons in class on Tuesday.

Return the Netbooks to the cart and make sure you plug them in and make sure the lights are facing outwards!!!
